Assets of Securitisers At the end of the December quarter 2006, total assets of Australian Securitisers was $232.5b, up $4.1b (1.8%) on the September quarter 2006 total. Mortgage assets, which accounted for 78.7% of total assets, were $183.1b at 31 December 2006, an increase of $2.8b (1.6%) during the quarter.
Asset backed securities The increase of $4.1b in total assets during the December quarter 2006 was financed primarily by an increase in Asset-backed securities issued overseas (up $3.7b, 5.1%). Asset backed securities issued overseas increased to 32.5% of total liabilities in the December quarter 2006, up 1.0 percentage point on the September quarter 2006.
